Speech Perception With Novel Stimulation Strategies for CombinedCochleo-Vestibular Systems

چکیده

Cochlear implants are very well established in the rehabilitation of hearing loss and regarded as most successful neuroprostheses to date. While a lot progress has also been made neighboring field specific vestibular implants, some diseases affect entire inner ear, leading both hypo- or dysfunction. The proximity cochlear organs suggests single combined implant means alleviate associated impairments. can be stimulated similar way with electric pulses applied through implanted electrodes, typical phase durations needed system seem substantially larger than those typically system. Therefore, when using sequential stimulation implant, pulse stream cochlea is interrupted by comparatively large gaps which occur. We investigate impact these auditory on speech perception. Specifically, we compare number strategies different gap lengths distributions evaluate whether it feasible use them without having noticeable decline perception quality speech. This prerequisite for any practicable strategy investigated even recipients normal implant. Our results show that there no significant deterioration examined this paper, leaving viable candidates prospective cochleo-vestibular implants.

Vestibular Stimulation and Auditory Perception in Children with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder

Objectives: Rehabilitation strategies play a pivotal role in reliving the inappropriate behaviors and improving children's performance during school. Concentration and visual and auditory comprehension in children are crucial to effective learning and have drawn interest from researchers and clinicians. Vestibular function deficits usually cause high level of alertness and vigilance, and proble...

How the vestibular system interacts with somatosensory perception: A sham-controlled study with galvanic vestibular stimulation

The vestibular system has widespread interactions with other sensory modalities. Here we investigate whether vestibular stimulation modulates somatosensory function, by assessing the ability to detect faint tactile stimuli to the fingertips of the left and right hand with or without galvanic vestibular stimulation (GVS). We found that left anodal and right cathodal GVS, significantly enhanced s...

Speech Perception in Children with Cochlear Implants

Cochlear implants provide access to the speech signal in children with hearing loss that often cannot benefit from acoustic hearing aids. However, despite the numerous positive results in pediatric cochlear implantation, published data still indicated a wide range of performance among implant recipients. Hence, a need to study the possible variables that can affect performance, could account fo...
